Kyo Wazarashi Mensya

Kyo Wazarashi Mensya is our original gauze product series. Wazarashi is the Japanese traditional way of cotton scouring treatment, removing impurities such as knitting oils, waxes, minerals and so on.

Common kier machines take 40 to 80 minutes of boiling in order to free the cotton from impurities. Wazarashi scouring process, on the other hand, takes 4 days to remove those natural impurities without damaging any fiber, making it even softer and airy than other gauze products.

After the Wazarashi process, we can see a beautifully rounded shape in cross-section of a cotton fiber. It creates a layer of air inside the fiber, making the cotton high moisture-absorbable and breathable.

Common double gauze products are usually tacked together with small stitches in between. The pingings were made to prevent the fabric from shifting during sewing. However, we sew double gauze, even triple gauze without pinging each layer. Despite the difficulty, we sew the gauze fabric layers together by great care and years of professional skills.

This is how we make our gauze products. By creating wider space between layers, our gauze can not only breathe better, but keep the warmth better at the same time.
