BAKU 2025 AW Vol.1: Japanese Indigo ― Beauty Beyond Time

This Autumn, Daito Shingu’s First English-Language Publication, BAKU, is Born.
In the midst of our busy lives, we wanted to create a publication that allows people to pause and take a moment for themselves. This was the starting point of BAKU.
BAKU is more than just a newsletter about Daito Shing.
It's like a letter sent from Kyoto.
Through it, we hope to take you deeper into Japanese culture, reveal the rhythms of life in Kyoto, and finally, guide you into a beautiful dream.
BAKU 2025 AW Vol.1
#Colors Created by Nature and Time — Japanese Indigo Feature
Indigo dyeing is a craft that lets you feel the flow of time. In this special feature, we spoke with the sixth-generation master of Yoshioka dye studio, listened to the history of Japanese indigo, and explored the enduring value of handmade craft in the modern age.

#Kyoto’s Buzz-Worthy Roasted Sweet Potato Truck— The Mobile Takemura Store
In autumn and winter, Kyoto has a very special roasted sweet potato cart, roaming the streets and shining as it goes. What it delivers is more than just sweet potatoes — it’s warmth and smiles. We sat down with its owner, Mr. Takemura, to hear his story.
#For Better Sleep
Finally, we’d like to talk about rest. In our fast-paced daily lives, knowing how to relax and sleep well allows us to face new challenges fully recharged. In the last part, we’ve gathered a few fun or practical sleep tips to accompany you toward a better tomorrow.
BAKU is a small experiment, a way to share the stories and ideas we hold dear with more people. Perhaps it’s a shade of blue, the warmth of a roasted sweet potato, or a fragment of a beautiful dream —we hope it becomes a gentle moment that softly touches your heart.
This publication will be included with overseas online orders, and we invite you to open and explore our little world of BAKU.
